Dr. Wayne Bullock

Dr Wayne Bullock - a gay DC therapist near me

Hi! I've been providing therapy since 2009 and have sought out extensive specialized training to be able to make sure that the experience I provide allows for you to not only reduce distressing feelings, but to improve your life beyond where you started. I've spent my entire career focused on working to solve the underlying problems that cause people to feel anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed.

I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology and a masters in human sexuality at Widener University in 2014 and then moved to NYC to pursue two years of intensive psychoanalytic post-doctoral training.

I'm passionate about therapy and connecting with people who take the step to show up to do this work because I have witnessed time and again over the last 12 years how impactful and life-changing this work is.

The experience of witnessing others realize how much they have changed from the process of therapy reminds me of how much we all need someone to help us to fully see ourselves and to have a space to make changes in our lives to get where we want to go.

I'm looking forward to meeting you, and working collaboratively on making the changes you want for a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

My Approach to Therapy

When you schedule, we'll discuss what brings you in and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. We'll check in about how it feels to speak with one another and if it feels like it might be a good fit. This "goodness of fit" is an important indicator of how successful therapy will be, and it is important that we both feel that we can work together. I'll let you decide, but I've been told by many that they find me warm, engaging, and easy to talk with. People are surprised sometimes by how much they share!

Moving forward, we'll meet at least weekly, and begin to explore what brought you to this place in life. I will listen intently, and ask you questions about the details of what you're sharing. We'll look for ways to increase your understanding of self, and consequently increase your freedom of choices in life. This will improve your quality of life, reducing the distressing feelings that brought you to therapy and promote a more rich and meaningful life.
