Insurance and Session FAQs
What is the cost of a therapy session?
Each 45-minute psychotherapy session is priced in line with other doctorate-level psychologists in the DC area with comparable experience and training. For more specific details or to discuss your needs, feel free to schedule an introductory call.
Do you accept insurance?
For many reasons, including safeguarding your confidentiality and preserving the integrity of our therapy, I do not have contracts with any insurance (I am not in-network). However, I am considered an out-of-network provider, and many insurance plans will reimburse you at least partially for services rendered out-of-network. Contact your insurance company to find out more.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept payment via check or major credit cards, including those through Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for therapy?
Yes! You can use your HSA or FSA to cover the cost of therapy sessions, and I accept these payment methods as well as regular credit cards.
Will I receive reimbursement from my insurance company?
As an out-of-network provider, I do not directly accept insurance. However, I will submit claims electronically on your behalf or provide you with a monthly statement for insurance reimbursement, depending on your wishes and which insurance plan you have. In the majority of cases I can submit electronically on your behalf, which streamlines the reimbursement process if your plan covers out-of-network benefits.
How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?
You can contact your insurance provider to inquire about your out-of-network benefits. Many insurance plans offer reimbursement for therapy services, but the amount may vary based on your specific plan.
