Sexuality & Sex Therapy
in Washington, DC
Sex and sexuality can be complex to navigate, especially when you don’t fit “the norm.”

Yet the norm keeps changing, and trying to fit it can often limit your ability to be your full and authentic self.
And even when you do conform to the standard, you may face difficulties connecting, loving, and enjoying your sexual being.
Whether you are feeling anxious about sex, experiencing sexual issues, or seeking guidance to explore your sexuality, a sex therapist therapy can help you on your journey.

What Is Sex Therapy?
Sex therapy is a specialized mental health treatment that addresses problems around your sexual function, sexual orientation, gender identity, intimacy, and pleasure.

Sex and sexuality counseling does not involve engaging in sexual activity with your counselor. As your sex psychotherapist, I combine my expert knowledge, training, and experience to help you manage the underlying issues related to your sexuality and identity.

Yet, overall, sex and sexuality therapy can help you:

Discover
You might have questions or doubts or simply want guidance to find your unique self. We will traverse and recognize your authentic light within the spectrum of sex (physiological characteristics at birth), gender identity (individual sense of self), and sexuality (sexual orientation or attraction).
The goal is to offer an open and judgment-free environment to share your experiences, explore yourself, and pinpoint your needs and goals.
Address
You may come to therapy with specific sex, identity, or sexuality issues you want to look into (e.g., sexual anxiety, performance concerns). Or you may believe something is “off” without knowing exactly what it is or why it’s happening.
As we assess your sexual being, we will identify any conscious and unconscious thoughts, feelings, beliefs, actions, and traumatic experiences affecting your sexual health.
We will get to the root of your challenges and dysfunctions and find ways to manage them. I will support you in shifting disruptive habits, finding alternative routes, and communicating your needs.
Enjoy
As you face your reality and address your struggles, you can begin to unlock pleasure and joy!
Therapy can help you bolster your connection to yourself and your partner(s) to regain confidence, physical and emotional intimacy, and satisfaction. You will seize your identity and sexuality to support your whole being and relish your sexual journey, focusing on what works for you.
Dr. Wayne Bullock | Sexuality and Sex Therapist in Washington DC
I provide individual sexuality and sex therapy in person to residents of Washington, DC; Alexandria, VA; Arlington, VA; Bethesda, MD; and the DC Metro Area.

My practice is open to all identities, orientations, races, ethnicities, and religions. I’m particularly interested in helping members of the LGBTQ+ community rise against adversity and stand tall in their truth.
We’ve come a long way in our capacity to explore, accept, and relish our sexual selves, but there is more to do. I firmly believe in the value of in-person counseling to affirm your identity and orientation, nurture self-love and connection, and improve your sexual satisfaction.
My approach is psychoanalytic and tailored to you. I’ve also received extensive training in interpersonal and relational therapy. I see sex and sexuality as part of human nature and strive to cultivate a shame-free and validating place to be curious, learn, and heal.
Do you have any questions? You can book a 15-min phone consultation to get to know each other and share your concerns. If we think we are a good fit, we’ll schedule weekly or regular 45-min sessions at 910 17th ST NW, Suite 419, Washington, DC.
