Therapy for Chronic Anxiety in Washington, DC
The worry that never seems to stop. The racing thoughts that follow you from work to home. The tension in your body that doesn’t ease even when you try to relax.
Living with chronic anxiety can feel like you’re constantly on edge, as if your mind and body are wired to expect the worst. Even rest can feel elusive, and every day can become a test of endurance.
Chronic anxiety isn’t just about being stressed. It’s a persistent pattern that can affect your work, relationships, health, and sense of self. But it doesn’t have to define your life.

I understand how exhausting and consuming chronic anxiety can be. My approach combines empathy, insight, and practical strategies so you can regain a sense of calm and control.
Therapy can help you explore the roots of your anxiety, understand your patterns, and develop sustainable tools to manage your symptoms. Together, we can chart a path toward greater emotional freedom and resilience.
What Is Chronic Anxiety?
Chronic anxiety is ongoing and often feels out of your control. Unlike occasional stress or situational worry, chronic anxiety persists over time, affecting multiple areas of your life.
You may notice:
-
Thoughts that spiral even during “normal” activities
-
Heightened vigilance or constant tension
-
Difficulty feeling present or enjoying things that once felt safe
-
Physical symptoms that don’t fully resolve
For many gay men and LGBTQ+ adults, chronic anxiety can be compounded by experiences of discrimination, microaggressions, or the subtle pressures of navigating identity in different spaces. Understanding these dynamics is essential for effective treatment.
Do You Need Therapy for Chronic Anxiety?
Chronic anxiety can manifest in both mental and physical ways. You might relate to some of these signs:

How Therapy Helps With Chronic Anxiety
Therapy provides a safe space to explore your experience, uncover patterns, and develop strategies that work for your life. Chronic anxiety therapy with me focuses on understanding the full picture: your mind, body, identity, and environment.
Explore
We examine your thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs to understand what’s driving anxiety. You’ll gain insight into how past experiences, stress patterns, and identity-related pressures may have shaped your nervous system.
Rebuild
Through therapy, you’ll learn ways to regulate your nervous system, set boundaries, and cultivate practices that support emotional resilience. You’ll also explore how societal expectations around masculinity, identity, or performance may be contributing to ongoing anxiety.
Relieve
This process helps you find tangible relief and greater freedom. Together, we’ll develop tools to manage symptoms when they surface, increase your sense of safety in daily life, and reclaim space for rest and joy.
